Dignified Maternal Care
Delivered Close to Home

Musimbi Global brings life-saving care to mothers in underserved communities through mobile clinical outreach, trained community health volunteers, and structured referral systems: ensuring no woman is lost between risk and care.

Our Story

Somewhere in Hamisi, a mother is pregnant and far from care. She may not recognize the warning signs. The nearest clinic may be hours away. And if complications arise, the health system may not reach her in time.

Musimbi Global exists so that story ends differently.

We bring skilled maternal care, trained community health workers, and reliable referral systems directly into underserved communities because where a woman is born should never determine whether she survives childbirth.

Musimbi Global is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Musimbi Global’s model targets the three critical delays responsible for most preventable maternal deaths: delayed recognition of danger signs, delayed access to care, and delayed treatment upon arrival. Through community-based outreach, trained CHVs, and structured referral pathways, we are closing the last-mile gap where most preventable deaths occur.

Our Work in Action...

Access to Care

Musimbi Global delivers essential maternal health services directly within communities, making it easier for mothers to access care during pregnancy and after birth.

Community Health Volunteer Training

We train and mentor CHVs to recognize early warning signs, guide families toward appropriate care, & support mothers throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

Maternal Nutrition Support

We integrate nutrition counseling into every maternal care touchpoint, equipping mothers with the knowledge & support needed to sustain healthy pregnancies.

Our Approach – The Musimbi Model

We don’t deliver isolated programs. We build a connected system of care.

The Musimbi Maternal Health Model addresses the full continuum: from early risk identification at the household level to referral completion and post-care follow-up.

Musimbi Model
01
MOBILE ACCESS TO CARE
We bring clinical screening directly into communities, eliminating the distance barrier.
02
COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKFORCE
Trained CHVs detect danger signs at the household level, before complications arise.
03
MATERNAL RISK DETECTION
Standardized screening at every antenatal and postnatal touchpoint identifies high-risk pregnancies early.
04
REFERRAL & FOLLOW-UP SYSTEM
We coordinate structured pathways and post-referral tracking so that a recommendation for care becomes care received.
OUR IMPACT

We measure what matters.

Musimbi Global tracks four core indicators: mothers reached through community outreach, high-risk pregnancies identified early, referral completion rate, and post-referral follow-up continuity.

01
MOTHERS REACHED
Women reached through community outreach programs.
02
EARLY RISK IDENTIFICATION
High-risk pregnancies identified early.
03
REFERRAL COMPLETION
Successful referral completion rate.
04
FOLLOW-UP CONTINUITY
Post-care tracking and continuity.
2026 Pilot: Our 2026 pilot in Vihiga County is generating baseline data across all four indicators. We will publish our first program report in Q4 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Musimbi Global works to prevent avoidable maternal and newborn harm by bringing timely, high-quality care closer to mothers in underserved communities. Through mobile maternal health services, trained Community Health Volunteers (CHVs), and reliable referral systems, we ensure that risks are identified early and care is delivered when it matters most.

In many rural areas, distance and delays are the difference between safe delivery and life-threatening complications. By delivering care directly within communities and strengthening household-level support, we reduce delays in seeking, reaching, and receiving care, improving outcomes for both mothers and newborns.

We combine clinical screening during antenatal and postnatal touchpoints with trained CHVs who identify early warning signs at the household level. When risks are detected, we activate structured referral pathways and follow-up systems to ensure mothers receive appropriate and timely care.

CHVs are trusted members of the community and a critical link between households and the health system. We train and mentor them to recognize danger signs, guide families toward care, support referrals, and ensure consistent follow-up throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

Our approach focuses on the full continuum of care, not just access. We address the entire pathway, from early risk identification to referral completion and follow-up. We prioritize dignity, consistency, and measurable outcomes, ensuring that care is not only available, but reliable and accountable.

You can support Musimbi Global by donating, partnering, or volunteering your time and expertise. Every contribution helps us bring maternal care closer to mothers, strengthen community health systems, and reduce preventable complications. Together, we can build a system that shows up when it matters most.
